ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Mechanic Light Vehicle role is a permanent position on a 7/7 Dayshift / Nightshift roster, FIFO from Townsville, Brisbane & Cairns, or DIDO from Mount Isa.
This position will report to the Supervisor Mobile Maintenance, and its purpose is to maintain light vehicle fleet and mobile ancillary surface mining equipment in a safe and efficient manner as per work management process, maintenance schedules and work instructions.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Monitor recurring faults and provide feedback and recommendations to rectify the fault
- Inspect vehicles for faults and roadworthiness before handing back to user
- Test vehicles after completion of work before delivery to users
- Trace and correct faults on diesel engines
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and auxiliary machinery
- Complete Work Orders and SAP requirements

You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- 3+ years Mobile Maintenance experience desirable but not essential
- Proficient in Toyota, Isuzu , Hino , Bobcat, Mitsubishi
- Ability to manage, influence and work within a multi discipline maintenance team
- Previous history working in a mining environment as a Light Vehicle Fitter
- Trade Qualified Light Vehicle Fitter / Mechanic (Australian recognized)
- Demonstrated understanding of principles of Mobile Mining Equipment fault finding and diagnostics
- A current driver’s license
- HRWL Dogging, Rigging and Forklift Licenses are desirable but not essential
- Automotive Airconditioning system , Diagnosis repair and handling
- 1SAP
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate
