Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position on 4 days on 3 days off roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville, or DIDO Mount Isa.
We are looking for an Operations Engineering Superintendent to lead and develop the Operations Engineering team incorporating Drill and Blast, Paste, Weekly Production and Services Scheduling, Analysis and Improvement (A&I). Be a key part of the Mine Leadership team and managing multiple mine contracts as contract owner for mine services (fibrecrete, cables, road maintenance, minor earth works), charge up and explosives supply (development and production), various other supply contracts.
We want to talk to mining people with a track record of delivering, and success at management level in metalliferous mining. You should have prior experience in a supervisor, senior engineer or superintendent position in an UG hard rock mine, contract management and business improvement.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this role is based in a challenging and exciting environment and results in a wide range of duties including:
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Providing safe & effective leadership of Operations Engineers and Underground Operations;
- Providing supportive and collaborative leadership to underground operations team;
- Ensuring all aspects of the mining operations meet all safety, quality, environmental, regulatory and operational standards requirements.
- Frontline leadership, people management and technical guidance of a large team of Operations Engineers.
- Production analysis and improvement activities.
- Conduct, lead and participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, inspections, reviews and audits;
- Manage material risk.
- Manage the short term planning aspects of daily, weekly and monthly activities of a combined owner operator & contract mining team to ensure that plans are effective, compliance is achieved, costs are minimised and the operating budget is achieved in the identified KPIs;

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Computer proficient in the Microsoft office suite.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- A proven commitment to Safety and Fitness for Work.
- This role requires a resilient and self-motivated individual to interface with a broad range of stakeholder groups, displaying credibility, building trust and influencing outcomes.
- Committed to improving workplace culture through modelling and coaching positive work habits.
- Strong working knowledge of operational mining activities and mine planning processes;
- Demonstrated experience managing operational teams in a mining environment;
Qualifications for this position are:
- Ideally hold a Tertiary qualification within an appropriate discipline or background;
- Hold or be eligible to qualify for a Queensland First Class Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
