ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.
Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on an 8:6 Thursday to Thursday roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.
As the Specialist - Environment, you will be responsible for providing specialist environmental support to operational and functional teams, helping to protect the environment while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and environmental improvement initiatives.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Provide detailed review and insight on environmental technical reports and investigations
- Undertake field work, collect and verify environmental data, and assess compliance against internal and external standards
- Prepare accurate environmental reports and maintain up-to-date compliance records
- Assist operational teams during environmental incidents and support planned improvement projects
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Proven ability managing environmental compliance within mining or heavy industry
- Environmental field sampling such as groundwater, depositional dust, real time air monitoring, water, soil and sediment
- Knowledge of QLD environmental regulatory requirements and licensing processes
- Strong grasp of environmental management systems, processes, and technologies
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, regulators, and community stakeholders
- Analyse environmental data and communicate insights to influence decisions
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- Current Driver’s Licence
