ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.
Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent full-time position on an 8:6 roster. FIFO from Brisbane and Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.
As the Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specialist safety support across operational activities by strengthening safety systems, reinforcing a strong safety culture and embedding effective risk management into everyday work.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Monitor and improve the Cannington Safety and Health Management System
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of health and safety reporting
- Support investigations, risk assessments and assurance activities
- Provide practical safety advice and communication across operations
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Building trusted relationships and influencing positive safety outcomes
- Working effectively in operational environments with competing priorities
- Interpreting safety data and translating insights into practical action
- Communicating clearly with a diverse range of stakeholders
Qualifications for this position are:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline (desirable)
- Current Drivers Licence
