Cannington is one of the world's largest and lowest-cost producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Operations Engineer, the purpose of this role is to generate a rolling 2 weekly plan at shift granularity that achieves the monthly Short Range Forecast (SRF) for underground operations. Other responsibilities include:

• Optimise the schedule to maximise cash flow, making trades offs as appropriate
• Produce rolling 2 week schedule to shift detail, with due regard for interactions and with a focus on compiling schedules that minimise risk.
• Inputting work requests and notifications for drill starters, fan moves, fresh air chambers etc
• Produce site setup plans (headings, cable plans, rehab, production drilling sites, diamond drilling etc)
• Reconciliation (planned versus actual performance of mining)
• Identify optimum location of and control of drill starter moves
• Optimisation of the plan to ensure that the monthly targets are attained taking into consideration weekly variability
• Schedule to achieve the monthly targets taking into consideration weekly variability and Safety and Health considerations.
• Accountable for improving the performance of the work cycle
• Weekly and monthly scheduling and alignment meeting that includes operations

Cannington mine provides resort style onsite accommodation with laundry and meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities and is FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

About you

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent, ideally with operational experience
• Willingness to work in a Hard Rock Underground Mine
• Attention to detail
• Analytical, disciplined and methodical in daily tasks
• Collaborative communications across all levels of the organisation
