ABOUT CANNINGTON 

 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

 

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a permanent position on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires to Cannington Mine.

 

As the Health & Injury Prevention Specialist, you will be responsible for managing return to work cases including workers compensation reviews and assisting with claims management. You will also coordinate periodical health assessment scheduling and surveillance/ monitoring including undertaking functional capacity assessments.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

  • Provide support and specialised guidance to injured team members and line leaders to ensure effective, holistic injury management
  • Injury and rehabilitation management
  • Analysis of health data to identify trends to inform necessary mitigating measures and controls
  • Participate in the development and execution of injury prevention and management strategies (both short and long term)

 

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

  • Significant experience working in a similar role within Mining or Heavy Industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High level of computer literacy and experience using health related systems (Medgate experience desirable but not essential)
  • Be innovative and have the drive to continuously improve
  • Case management experience

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

  • Undergraduate or post graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy, or strong Return to Work experience with qualifications to undertake functional capacity assessments
