ABOUT CANNINGTON 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We have 12 month and 24 month Fixed-Term Contract positions available on an 8:6 roster, Monday-Monday, FIFO from Brisbane and Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

As the Core Yard Technician, you will be responsible for managing the preparation, handling and storage of core and sample materials to support production and exploration outcomes.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Maintain core yard, equipment and storage systems
• Coordinate sample dispatch and laboratory submissions
• Liaise with drilling contractors on sample standards
• Track inventory, consumables and sample records

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Knowledge of diamond drilling and sampling practices within mining industry
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to maintain accuracy across large data sets
• Collaborative approach within technical teams
• Intermediate computer literacy

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Current C class driving licence (manual)
• First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
