ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona.

As a Shaft Engineer you will support the management of construction activities for the Exploration and Ventilation Shafts on a rotating schedule. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Support management of multiple contractors and sub-contractors including, planning, scheduling, reporting, health, safety & security and environmental compliance, community relations and meeting targets within budget and on time. 
•    Role requires heavy field interaction and interface with construction teams.
•    Assist with the compilation of construction documentation for upcoming work packages
•    Work with Project Services to ensure that equipment and material deliveries are coordinated and ensure that Care & Perseveration requirements are correctly implemented and documented

ABOUT YOU 
•    Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or Technical Degree in Construction or Similar, and appropriate Trade qualifications (Prior shaft sinking experience can be considered in lieu of Degree)
•    5 to 7 years of large-scale mining construction site experience
•    Experience in Shaft Sinking and Shaft Surface Construction works
•    Drive company vehicle and be covered under company insurance
