Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Sr. Mining Cost Modelling Engineer’s primary responsibility would be the creation and maintenance of the underground mining budget and reconciliation to that budget. This role would also be instrumental in cost reduction and continuous improvement exercises. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
• Creation and maintenance of the underground capital, sustaining, and operating budget
• Compliance to the budget through stakeholder engagement
• Vendor and Contractor management
• Scheduling and alignment of Underground LOM infrastructure 
• Scheduling of underground construction projects relating to material handling and ventilation, etc. 
• Communication with relevant stakeholders for input into the budget.
• Reconciliation and reporting of plan vs actuals (Spend, consumable usage, etc)
• Communication with vendors
• Plan risk mitigation
• Continuous improvement – Cost reduction measures through innovative products, process changes, etc
• Manage junior engineers
• Weekly, monthly, and annual presentations
    

ABOUT YOU 
• Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering or related field required
• Degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred
• MBA Preferred 
• Underground mining experience >5yr
• Underground mine planning experience >3yr
• Cost planning and budgeting experience >1yr
• Experience managing professionals >1yr
• Experience presenting to large groups as well as groups of managers and executives 
• Combined experience in underground mining and cost modelling between 5 and 8 years
• Mine costing software experience > 1yr
    • Xeras Preferred
• ERP Software experience  > 1yr
    • SAP Preferred
• Mine Planning Software >3yr
    • Deswik preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders
• Driven and self-motivated
• Due Diligence and detail focused
• Continuous Improvement mindset
