ABOUT HILLSIDE:

 

Our Hillside Aluminium smelter in Richards Bay produces high-quality, primary aluminium for the domestic and export markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Risk Specialist, you will be responsible to provide robust Risk Management and Compliance support to the Hillside Aluminium Operations,  that will facilitate the timely identification and management of material and non-material risks and to advice and execute tasks that facilitate standard application of the Risk Management methodology and development of an accurate Risk Profile.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

 

• Deliver specialist, independent and technically capable risk and compliance support, tools, coaching and training to process owners;
• Monitors adherence to risk management standards and risk management metrics;
• Prepare accurate and timely risk and compliance reporting, including emerging trends to key stakeholders (i.e. Operations, VPs and Operations Managers )
• Supports implementation of improvement projects and initiatives related to Risk Management;
• Co-ordinate the maintenance of the Operations risk registers;
• Support the operations in identifying new risks or changes to existing risks;
• Reviews the Material Risk Profile and tolerability on a periodic basis;
• Prepares Risk Reporting and Analysis to relevant stakeholders;
• Drive emergency management processes and governance;
• Report, monitor and track internal audit action findings and verifications;
• Facilitate risk assessments and reviews for risks to ensure optimal control design and effectiveness;
• Facilitate risk assessments for strategies and delivery of operational and/or project objectives;
• Implementation of processes that review statutory and regulatory compliance as well as adherence to South32 minimum standards.

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

 

• Must have a minimum of 4 – 6 years relevant professional and industry experience ;
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Risk Management Process is very advantageous;
• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite is essential;
• Experience in Risk Management software will be advantageous.

 

Qualifications for this role are:

• Bachelor’s Degree / BTECH / National Diploma in Risk Management, Engineering or similar.
