ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE

 

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a full-time, permanent position at our head office in Perth.

 

The Principal External Communications helps to protect and enhance our reputation by developing editorial content for our Annual Reporting Suite that clearly articulates how we are delivering against our strategy and meeting high standards of governance. By applying your editorial skills and building relationships with key internal stakeholders, you will communicate our progress, achievements and contributions through our Annual Reporting Suite.

 

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Communications, key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Lead the editorial production of our Annual Reporting Suite, by crafting compelling content that showcases our company's journey, strategy and achievements - from financial performance to sustainability initiatives and corporate governance.
  • Partner with creative agencies to bring our corporate reporting to life through innovative design and seamless production.
  • Maintain the highest standards of communications governance by working with multiple stakeholders to complete review processes.
  • Define and embed editorial excellence in our communications by stewarding our corporate style guide to ensure our voice remains consistent and impactful across all platforms.
  • Contribute your expertise beyond reporting season by providing input into our corporate reporting strategy and supporting broader communications initiatives, helping South32 to maintain clear and effective communications year-round.

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Writing expertise that has been developed and honed through publishing or editorial leadership in listed companies, where you've crafted compelling corporate narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Track record of creating impactful corporate reporting content, ideally enriched by experience in the mining sector or other complex multinational organisations.
  • Natural talent for building genuine relationships, whether collaborating with senior management, external partners, or cross-functional teams in investor relations and external affairs.
  • Thoughtful, analytical approach and meticulous attention to detail, complemented by your ability to navigate challenges with creative solutions and clear judgment.
  • Seasoned perspective, shaped by 8+ years of communications experience, particularly in understanding the unique dynamics of listed companies and corporate storytelling.
  • Excel in managing multiple priorities, bringing project management skills and the ability to deliver polished work within demanding timeframes.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as journalism, communications, public relations, business, or related disciplines.
