ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE

 

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a full-time, permanent position at our head office in Perth.

 

The Manager, Internal Communications role leads a small team in developing and implementing South32's internal corporate communications approach, ensuring that South32’s purpose, strategy and values are effectively communicated to internal audiences. The role involves collaborating closely with functions and operations to enable a strong and aligned understanding of key activities and plans across our organisation.

 

Reporting to the Group Manager Communications, key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Leading and developing a high performing Internal Communications team, overseeing internal corporate communications, including CEO and other Lead Team communications, global campaigns, and intranet use.
  • Developing and executing South32’s internal communication strategy, aligning activity to South32’s overall strategy and objectives, and tailoring messaging to be effective with diverse internal audiences.
  • Collaborating with operations and using various communications channels to promote understanding of key activities and plans, including new business initiatives.
  • Measuring performance, continuously improving communication channels and content, and demonstrating strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills to deliver timely and effective results.
  • Aligning corporate and operational internal communications teams and activity to ensure consistency of approach.

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • 7+ years’ experience in a similar communications role within a large, complex business, preferably in the mining and resources sector, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and deliver clear, impactful messages across various platforms and to diverse audiences.
  • A proven track record in developing comprehensive communication strategies and engaging internal stakeholders to deliver effective communications aligned with organisational goals and values.
  • Strong team leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and lead change initiatives, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy, combined with a pragmatic and professional approach.
  • The ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, in developing and executing high-impact communications campaigns across different cultures and geographies.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as journalism, communications, public relations, business, or related disciplines.
