This position will be based out of our Perth head office in the heart of the CBD and be offered as a permanent contract.

 

 

About the role

 

The purpose of this role is to add value through the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Group system of risk management (RMS). The role provides Stewardship over the Risk Management Standard across all functions, operations and projects.

This role will initially lead the final phase of the RMS implementation program to completion in early 2022, and transition into the ongoing governance, maintenance and improvement of Risk Management Framework as part of the Group Risk and Assurance function.

This role influences and engages with an extensive range of both external and internal stakeholders operating at senior levels across the organisation.

 

Other accountabilities include:

 

  • Developing and maintaining the South32 Risk Management Framework guidance, standards and training
  • Complete the implementation of RMS for global Functions and Projects
  • Monitor the risk environment to enhance identification of new risks and/or changes to existing risks, as well as opportunities to create value for the South32 Group.
  • Monitor the Group’s risks against the set risk appetite;
  • Prepare accurate and timely risk and compliance reporting, including emerging trends to key stakeholders (i.e. Functional and Operations’ VPs) as well as bi-annual reporting to the Board Risk & Audit Committee and Sustainability Committee
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the Group’s Risk Management System (RMS)
  • Engage the Risk and HSE Leads and Managers embedded in the Business to ensure an inclusive workplace with a strong culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure process owners receive specialist, independent and technically capable risk and compliance support
  • Facilitate conversations with the Lead Teams on risks and the management of risks
  • Regularly review effectiveness of the risk management, governance and assurance processes

 

 

About you

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Assurance, Business Management, Finance or Commerce
  • Extensive experience in Mining and Metals of which at least 5 years in a leadership position preferably in Risk or Assurance capacity
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in current risk management / assurance practice
  • Exceptional influencing of key stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated capability in control, monitoring and effective reporting to executive management and/or Board
  • Demonstrated capability in risk data analysis and evaluation
  • Demonstrated capability in risk workshops facilitation
  • Experience in the resources industry, with some operational level experience in either functions or operations, including risk ownership.
  • Experience in managing governance and assurance processes will be advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment
  • Strong understanding of the strategy and priorities of the business portfolio
