This position will be based out of our Perth head office in the heart of the CBD and be offered as a permanent contract.



About the role


Reporting to the Manager Studies & Projects Worsley the purpose of this role is to provide guidance and direction to the Major Projects west team on external regulated environmental, land and tenure approval requirements for project activity at the Boddington Mine and Worsley refinery.


Other accountabilities include:


  • Working closely with the site approvals team and assist with scoping approval requirements
  • This role is responsible for identify and attaining all project related approvals
  • To ensure contactor systems & processes are appropriate, maintained and overarching governance on contractor performance across CEMPs, ASSMP, Heritage and harvesting and clearing works, reporting requirements etc are adhered to and reflect adequate and prompt level of information across the Major Projects portfolio.
  • Establish a clear approvals register for the major projects portfolio and integrate with the broader business to ensure that projects are delivered in a timely fashion, with all approval challenges quantified, managed and met.
  • The Approval Coordinator is a key link between the studies portfolio and construction execution activities. Strong communication with study and project managers will be essential.
  • The role will also provide the team specialist advice and guidance on approval framework and aid the business case development.
  • The role will be accountable to assist the study teams to meet outcomes that ensure successful and timeous toll gating of the projects.



About you


  • Relevant degree (Environmental Science, Geoscience, Mining, Process/Civil/Project Engineering, Business or related) minimum 10 years ideally 15 years + experience
  • The role requires a high-level knowledge of the State and Commonwealth approval legislation. In addition, a strong background in construction delivery and approvals is essential
  • This role also requires a well-developed communicator with a high degree of interaction, influencing and coordination skills to aid and support related projects, programs and strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in study and approvals
  • Broad exposure to operating facilities and mines or other major industrial undertakings.
  • Economic analysis and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated experience working on large projects
