ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, AZ.

As Superintendent, Process Plant Construction you will support and manage construction activities and skilled, technical and professional staff engaged in the construction of the process plant facilities, tailings filtration plant and paste backfill plant. Responsibilities include active management of multiple contractors and subcontractors including: planning, scheduling, reporting, health, safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, community relations and meeting targets within budget and on time.  Close integration with site engineering team will be required as well as the integrated construction contractor.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Manages and directs the site construction contractors, ensuring that work is always executed in a safe manner; 
•    Ensures that South32 corporate safety and business goals are met or exceeded;
•    Ensures that project construction activities and services are executed in conformity with South32’s environmental and community relations policies and plan;
•    Assist with the preparation of Sourcing Strategies for major works packages as required;
•    Prepares annual budgets with input and assistance from the Project Controls Team;
•    Reviews and approves project construction schedules with input from Manager Project Execution and Construction and Concentrator Package Manager;

ABOUT YOU 
•    Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technical Degree (Construction or Similar) and appropriate Trade qualifications 
•    Minimum 10 years of large-scale mining construction site management experience across all trades;
•    Visible field safety leadership and an ability to drive safety and performance excellence
•    Experience in building, maintaining and/or operating concentrator plants;
