ABOUT Hermosa
Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Principal Operational Readiness - Innovation, Performance and Reporting you will be responsible for establishing and embedding the Operational Readiness Package across Hermosa enabling innovation and operational connectivity to drive the ability for effective decisions to be made at the lowest possible level. You will be responsible for deploying the latest commercial available tools such as Augmented/ Virtual Reality, Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other leading edge technology solutions in a manner which is highly integrated into the mining process and establishes simple, effective use to lift performance to peak potential and removing waste in the process. You will also create Power BI integrated dashboards to ensure data is available and viewable in realtime. You will be a key contributor to ensuring site operations are successfully connected with the Remote Operating Centre and accountable for ensuring operational capability in Innovation, Performance and Reporting is setup to continuously deliver improvements for the Life of Operation (LoOP) and Life of Asset (LOA).
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Centro Development: Partner with the Centro OR team and establish deep connections of best practice technology solutions with real time data which is packaged for consumption in custom way which optimizes performance in all areas of the mining process.
• Innovation: Develop and implement leading edge innovation establishing Hermosa as the optimal Mine of the Future • Performance: Establish systems/reporting which connect the entire mining process, break it down to understand where things are optimally working and where there are bottlenecks and provide simple to understand User Interfaces which show all teams this same information but customized to their area.
• Asset Performance: Create interconnected processes/practice with Mine Operations where asset management strategies and operational outcomes to deliver the mine plan are fully in sync.
• Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Utilize data analytics tools and methodologies to monitor asset performance, identify trends, and proactively address potential issues before they escalate, optimizing asset utilization and efficiency. Utilize asset health data to drive real time strategic or tactical decisions at the right organizational level.
• Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to minimize operational risks associated with Innovation, Performance or Reporting failures, safety incidents, and regulatory compliance, ensuring a safe and sustainable work environment.
• Risk Owner: Own the risks associated with the ramp-up of the mine.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including commissioning, mining operations, mineral processing, water processing, engineering, procurement, environment, communities, and safety, to ensure alignment of innovative solutions and strategies with overall business goals and objectives.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for optimization, implementing best practices, and fostering innovation in asset management processes and technologies. Deploy fit for purpose tools into the line where continuous improvement is owned and managed daily as part of our operational culture.
ABOUT YOU
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. • Extensive experience (10+ years) in mining operations
• Strong knowledge of Underground Operations, IROC and the mining processes
• Strong ability to integrate leading edge technology with in-field processes and to establish simple and effective outcomes
• Expert in data analysis tools and techniques
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset towards identifying and addressing operational challenges
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Ability to interact with employees at all levels within the organization
• Proven leadership skills
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in mining operations
• Expert in deployment of AI, BI, AR, VR, Digital Twins, coding custom systems/dashboards/reports
• Preferred Blackbelt or significant experience in Six Sigma Lean Practices
