The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona.

 

The Role

This role will be responsible for the development of a local supply chain in support of the Hermosa project’s community economic development strategy. The role will identify needs of Hermosa and develop local stakeholders and businesses to meet these needs.

 

Accountabilities (Include but are not limited to):

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Development of local (Santa Cruz County) supply chain aligned to project scope and timing.
  • Develop local business to meet the needs of South32
  • Participate in risk reviews including analysis and communication of potential risks that contract changes may pose to the project.
  • Assist local vendors in preparing for pre-qualification process and aligning to contract standards
  • Develop contract targets aligning with project mission to use local vendors, employment, etc
  • Direct management of contractor / supplier in local procurement activities including progress meetings, change management, performance reporting (KPI reporting, contract changes, claims management, etc.) and complete contract close out against local procurement targets
  • Have an ability to gain credibility Develop business relationships in Santa Cruz County with local vendors and integrate local procurement requirements into an agreed commercial strategic approach.
  • Ensure the company’s code of business conduct, health, safety, and sustainability values are communicated and adhered to by our vendors and service providers.
  • Support local vendors to work within South32 standards to meet the needs of small business enterprises
  • Responsible for developing, enforcing, and improving contracts and procurement processes.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in either Supply Chain, Business Administration, Economic Development or related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of project, procurement, economic development, business development experience
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations, community development programs or business organizations in rural communities
  • Experience working with local government organizations
  • Experience in business development and capacity building for small businesses
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, and work with a project team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Aconex, Contract Management/ERP systems
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Strong English and Spanish language written and oral communication skills
  • Effective communication with other departments and leadership
  • Experience within major projects contract management
  • Strong negotiation skills
