On 29th August 2024, Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) ownership changed from South32 to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd trading as GM3. GM3 is an emerging Australian metallurgical coal mining entity owned by global investment entity Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, a market leader in metallurgical coal industry services.
Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will be offered on a full-time, 2-year fixed-term contract based at our Regional Operations Centre, Port Kembla Coal Terminal in the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.
As the Technology Graduate, you will manage small projects from initiation through to delivery and completion and assist with project reporting and governance requirements. In addition, you will support the Infrastructure team with hardware provisioning and assist the Data & Visualisation team with testing and quality assurance tasks.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Assist where needed with the communication and other change management activities associated with new technology implementations.
- Ticket assignment, request approvals and escalations within the Organisations ITSM.
- Be an onsite contact to manage and supervise vendors at site.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with external partners and vendors.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a candidate who has:
- Degree qualified – Technology/Computing or related field
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A current drivers’ licence (provisional licence accepted).
- Ability to multitask across all areas of the Digital Technology team.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
