Our Johannesburg office based in Melrose Arch serves as the company`s Functional Hub for the Southern African Operations which include Global Services, Technology and Enterprise Resource Planning Support Teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As Principal Risk & Improvement, you will be responsible for the  ongoing implementation and embedment of the risk management framework, supply operating system and improvement processes within the mandate of Supply inclusive of contractor management. This role provides assurance to stakeholders through governance practices to identify gaps, risks and improvement opportunities within Supply.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

Implement and embed the foundations of Risk Management Framework within Supply. This includes the adoption of standards, procedures, governance, program effectiveness and reporting of the Supply Function to relevant internal and external stakeholders;
Develop, implement, execute, and manage Supply’s Risk Management Plan;
Establish and communicate risk management processes, including risk review methodologies, standards, procedures, guidelines and practices;
Report on risk management program effectiveness in established routines (e.g. Supply Performance Reporting, RAC and Safety Meeting, Group Risk Reporting, Annual Supply Baseline Risk Register, etc.);
Oversee the improvement pipeline, ensuring effective prioritization and smooth execution of initiatives that deliver maximum value and impact;
Lead or collaborate on key improvement projects, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and successful delivery within set timelines, budgets, and scope;
Drive cross-functional integration by ensuring alignment and collaboration across teams to support the successful implementation of improvement initiatives and risk management processes;
Provide coaching and mentorship to teams and individuals to foster an improvement culture;
Drive the embedment and adoption of the Supply Operating System across teams;
Support Supply accountabilities in Acquisition and Divestment Projects.

 

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

5+ years demonstrated experience in commercial, risk management or governance related roles in large, complex business;
Prior experience in lead change management and / or continuous improvement processes;
Demonstrated risk management experience, including implementation of risk management framework in mining, heavy industry or oil and gas;
Knowledge of professional standards (ISO31000, RIMS, etc.);
Demonstrated experience working across multi-functional projects/initiatives;
Able to demonstrate an aptitude for developing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships at all levels.

 

Qualifications for this role are:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or related disciplines;
Tertiary qualification in risk management would be advantageous.
