ABOUT WESSELS

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Specialist Assurance and Analysis, you will be responsible for developing, deploying and continuously improving maintenance work management strategies for the Operation and the regulatory assurance of all maintenance activities within the Operation area.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Participate in Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability initiatives.
• Analyze equipment performance to optimize maintainability and reliability;
• Identify and facilitate the implementation of improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence.
• Initiates root cause analysis and “failure type” reviews (e.g.5 Whys, FMECA) of plant, equipment and non-process infrastructure based on no compliance to planned availability or unpredicted failures
• Manage the improvement initiatives within the Maintenance function.
• Liaise with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering representatives to facilitate the review of the effectiveness of maintenance work strategies
• Supporting LEAN and implementation of the South32 Operating Model;
• Analise maintenance data for trends and deviations to improve maintenance and ensure process adherence.
• Assist with development of a yearly maintenance budget based on the preventative and corrective maintenance work strategies in 1SAP

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance improvement environment;
• Knowledge of LEAN, RCA and FMECA methodologies;
• Understanding mine information systems, sound knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, SCADA, fleet management systems will be advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12;
• Tertiary qualification in technical field or trade with minimum N4.
