ABOUT MAMATWAN:

 

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Coordinator Operation Control Centre, you will be responsible to coordinate production activities across surface operations, ensuring accurate hourly, shiftly, and daily performance updates. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and communicating emerging issues, initiating safe and timely responses, and ensuring adherence to safety standards, emergency procedures, production parameters, and operational requirements. The role further encompasses the coordination of emergency and incident responses across the operation.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Coordinate planned activities in line with approved production schedules;
• Allocate resources effectively to support production and operational priorities;
• Remotely monitor mining activities to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, emergency measures, and production standards;
• Track and consolidate production data and operational changes, ensuring timely communication to relevant stakeholders;
• Initiate callouts where necessary to maintain operational continuity;
• Monitor surface operational efficiencies and recommend or implement improvements aimed at maximizing production and operational outcomes;
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across the production value chain to ensure seamless operational integration and optimisation;
• Create work orders for breakdowns and accurately record all breakdown-related information, including artisan feedback;
• Coordinate the repair and return-to-service of TMM and other equipment;

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a mining load and haul or plant operation experience;
• Computer literacy in MS Office Suite essential;
• Working knowledge of fleet monitoring and dispatch systems;
• Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental principles applicable to mining operations;
• Demonstrated understanding of surface mining operational processes, and typical mine layouts with the ability to read and interpret surface mining plans and production schedules.

 

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics
• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering will be advantageous.
