ABOUT WESSELS:  

 

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As an Artisan Fitter, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that underground mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Maintenance and repairs of plant equipment in the production sections;
• Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulic diagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;
• Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on plants or equipment;
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
• Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
• Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
• Coordinates activities associated with trouble-shooting and repairing maintenance equipment.

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Knowledge and experience in maintaining plant equipment such as conveyors, screens, jaw crushers, apron feeder and pumps is essential;
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to read and interpret diagrams is essential;
• Having minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter on plant equipment
• Working experience on SAP/1SAP is advantageous.

 

Qualifications for this role are:

• Serious contenders will have a N2 Technical Certificate (Internal Candidates) / N3 Technical  Certificate (External Candidates);
• Valid Code 08 Driver’s license is essential.
