ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

The onsite accommodation includes meal services and access to excellent facilities, including a gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, a sports oval and a range of scenic walking tracks.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, rotating dayshift / nightshift, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt, NT.

As the Tyre Fitter, you will be responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality tyre maintenance across the mobile fleet, ensuring equipment reliability through planned tasks, repairs and consistent service to operational teams.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Remove, repair and refit tyres to the GEMCO rubber tyred fleet
• Complete pressure checks, adjustments and data capture for tyre condition and performance
• Follow the weekly maintenance schedule and adapt to operational priorities
• Maintain clear communication with team members and other operational areas

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Experience in tyre maintenance, covering Heavy OTR, Road Train, Light vehicle, Ag, industrial, or similar
• Strong customer service focus with the ability to build effective working relationships
• Confident teamwork in a fast‑paced operational environment
• Ability to work safely, follow procedures and contribute to a positive team culture

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Certificate III in Heavy Duty Tyre Fitting (or equivalent)
• RIISAM210 & RIISAM211 (or equivalent)
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence
• High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (desirable)
