Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Domestic relocation assistance to Darwin or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided.

As the Superintendent Sand & Tailings, you will be responsible for leading the safe, cost-effective, and strategic delivery of sand placement operations across tailings facilities, while managing contractors and supporting cross-functional goals.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Oversee sand trucking contract and day-to-day tailings operations.
• Lead contract negotiations and contractor performance.
• Drive strategy To meet medium term planning requirements.
• Oversee the restart of sands deposition and improvement projects.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Significant experience withing the mining, civil and TSF operations.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating and executing Mining and civil contracts.
• Leading operational teams and managing large contracts in complex environments.
• Delivering large-scale projects with competing priorities and tight timelines.
• Building strong relationships across teams to drive outcomes.
• Navigating operational risks with a focus on safety, cost and efficiency to deliver budget.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Degree or Diploma in related discipline I.e., Mining, Civil, Project management or relevant industry experience.
