Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent full-time position on a 4:3 (4 days on 3 days off) roster residential on Groote Eylandt or FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

Domestic relocation to Alyangula, Darwin, or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided.

As the Superintendent Maintenance Planning & Assurance, you will be responsible for leading maintenance planning and engineering to maximise asset performance, ensure strategic alignment, and uplift operational value.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Delivering short, medium and long-term maintenance plans aligned to business goals.
• Driving improvement through defect elimination and engineering investigations.
• Ensuring work management aligns with systems, metrics and strategic frameworks.
• Providing leadership to planning teams while building a culture of inclusion and excellence.
• Asset Management and Capital Replacement planning. Developing optimized fleet level strategies to guide decision making.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading multi-disciplinary teams in maintenance planning and engineering within the Mining or Heavy industry.
• Influencing cross-functional stakeholders through clear, concise communication.
• Applying strategic thinking to asset lifecycle and vendor performance.
• Creating a safety-focused and improvement-driven culture.
• Able to effectively and creatively challenge people, situations and current thinking.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Engineering Degree preferred. Trade qualification considered with demonstrated relevant experience.
