ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Specialist Contractor Management, you will be responsible for coordinating contractor management operations at GEMCO, ensuring standards and procedures are maintained across all site contracts.
Working within South32's Lead model, you'll oversee contracts assigned by Operations and Functions while providing expert guidance to stakeholders. This hands-on role requires strong operational coordination and the ability to support vendor management strategies that keep GEMCO's contractor relationships running smoothly.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Champion safety while living South32's values of Trust, Care, Togetherness, and Excellence. Help build a positive, collaborative culture that drives value and innovation.
- Delivery of Contractor Management strategy aligned with business goals. Support implementation of global standards and work with HSE, Supply, and Training teams to enhance processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain legal and regulatory compliance while overseeing governance processes, including but not limited to contract alignment, vendor assessments, and digital systems. Ensuring procedures remain current and verification processes run smoothly.
- Develop strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, . Provide clear guidance to support decision-making, coordinate assigned site-wide contracts, and support reporting and learning requirements.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Experience in governance or contract management within mining or related industries, with solid knowledge of HSE and Risk Management Systems.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to challenge constructively, build effective relationships across all levels, and deliver clear, impactful communication.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor onboarding, performance monitoring, and offboarding, with exposure to Contract Lifecycle Management in mining being advantageous.
- Competent in contractor management platforms and digital technology, with experience in SAP and ARIBA preferred.
- Ability to identify and manage operational and contractual risks while streamlining processes for greater efficiency.
- Work collaboratively across functions to drive outcomes while operating with integrity and professionalism to support team success.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary level qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or similar - Preferred
