ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.

As the Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring surety of supply and minimising supply risk through effective sourcing, category management and strong supplier relationships.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Apply category management and purchasing processes in line with procedures and audit requirements
• Build relationships with stakeholders to understand needs, forecast demand and confirm contract effectiveness
• Develop collaborative supplier relationships to support delivery quality and sustained performance
• Oversee sourcing projects to support business strategies, budgets and long-term execution plans

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Procurement, commercial or supply chain experience within mining/heavy industry
• Applying commercial and contractual concepts to maximise value
• Leading tenders, evaluations, negotiations and recommendations
• Managing supplier and contractor performance and service quality
• Building productive relationships with site stakeholders and vendors
• Experience with SAP or Ariba (desirable)

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Current C Class Drivers Licence
