Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns, or residential option to live on Groote Eylandt.  

As the Principal Category Management, you will be responsible for delivering commercial value and supply security by leading category strategy, contract execution and supplier performance across critical spend areas.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Developing & executing sourcing strategies aligned with business needs
• Managing key tenders, negotiations, variations & supplier engagement
• Monitoring contract performance & addressing supply risk
• Supporting internal governance, approvals & compliance standards

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading category or commercial strategies within complex environments
• Drafting, negotiating & managing high-value contracts
• Building effective stakeholder & supplier relationships
• Applying strong commercial, legal and analytical judgement
• Ariba Sourcing & Contracts system proficiency

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, law, supply chain or related field
• MCIPS or equivalent procurement accreditation (desirable)
• Training or certification in commercial negotiation (desirable)
• Current driver’s licence
