Location

 

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company, the operation is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

 

The Opportunity

 

This role is a 4:3 Roster Monday - Thursday, Residential or FIFO available

 

The purpose of this role is to lead the Mobile Maintenance team in the maintenance of HME fleet, oversee compliance to the weekly work schedule, work instructions and defined processes to achieve optimal maintenance and operational outcomes.

 

Accountabilities:

 

Primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

 

  • Ensure optimal management of the department through the effective and efficient application of policies and procedures, business systems, human and financial resources.
  • Actively coach and pursue opportunities to ensure front line leaders develop an inclusive operating culture where employees are empowered to speak up and effectively contribute every day.
  • Leads the delivery of the Care Strategy.
  • Provides Technical direction to Execution through the creation of Maintenance Processes standards.
  • Supports Operations in delivering Maintenance plans by conducting Plan-Do-Check-Act analyses and by troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Leads, coaches and mentors team members to ensure delivery against performance targets.
  • Contributes to the preparation of the inputs to form the Maintenance budget.
  • Oversees and provides guidance in the execution of the weekly work schedule or shutdown schedules and minimise any unscheduled work requirements.
  • Endorses, leads the implementation, and monitors effectiveness of Maintenance  
  • Execution improvement initiatives with support from Maintenance Analysis & Improvement (A&I).
  • Provides feedback to Maintenance reliability team on equipment capability assumptions.
  • Builds functional capability for the Execution sub-function.
  • Builds cross-functional relationships with the Operational sub-functions to support the delivery of production.
  • Guides Supervisors in the weekly planning and scheduling meetings to ensure alignment and commitment of resources to the work schedule.
  • Contributes to the development of the Maintenance strategy and budget (foreseeable & unforeseeable corrective) by reviewing the existing Work Plans Task Lists and Corrective Task Lists, in collaboration with Maintenance A&I.

 

Experience required

 

  • Relevant supervisory or superintendent experience in a Mining or Heavy Industry environment
  • Business Improvement training
  • Business Case Development experience
  • Frontline leadership
  • Extensive HME equipment knowledge in mining applications

 

Qualifications

 

  • Relevant degree or trade qualification.
  • 1 SAP as applicable to maintenance and to finance
