ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, rotating day / night shift, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Mining Supervisor Ancillary Services, you will be responsible for providing supervision and leadership of the ancillary mining crews to safely execute the daily and weekly plan. You’ll cover drill & blast, dewatering and mobile plant for ancillary services.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Deliver safe and consistent execution of daily and weekly mining plans in line with site procedures
• Lead and support team members through inclusive, values-based leadership and clear communication
• Maintain strong safety and operational standards while contributing to team performance and coordination
• Partner with maintenance and support teams and support people processes, including development, performance and wellbeing

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Experience in a leadership role within mining, as well as operator experience
• Knowledge of Drill & Blast and Dewatering (highly desirable)
• Ability to support the development and growth of others, fostering an inclusive team environment
• Builds positive working relationships and contributes to a respectful, team-focused culture
• Applies sound judgement with a strong focus on safety, risk awareness and continuous improvement

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Mining Supervisor competency G1, G8, G9 (or willing to obtain)
• G2 Risk Management (or willing to obtain)
• Current manual driver’s license
• High-Risk License: Vehicle Loading Crane (desirable)
