ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.  

We are recruiting for Mining Operators across Excavator, Dozer and Ancillary crews at GEMCO. These roles will see you safely execute operations activities through operating equipment in accordance with GEMCO standards and operating procedures.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Execute the production mining and/or development activities according to the production plan
• Effective communication of equipment status to pit control
• Adhere to defined standard procedures and apply safe work practices
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and hazards
• Promote safety and improvement culture through effective leadership

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in: 

• Experience working in mining operations
• Experience operating one of the following machines in a Mining Production environment:
  • CAT D11 Dozers in bulk push operations; or
  • 260T Excavators
• Experience operating the following equipment conducting Mining Ancillary tasks:
  • CAT D10 Dozers
  • 30-120T Excavators
  • Moxy articulated ejector haul trucks
• Champion a safety focused culture, conducting risk -assessments and following change management procedures
• Able to relocate yourself to Darwin or Cairns if successful

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Current C Class driver license (manual)
