ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

The onsite accommodation includes meal services and access to excellent facilities, including a gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, a sports oval and a range of scenic walking tracks.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As the Mine Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing accurate survey control, data capture and reporting to support safe, efficient and compliant mining, rehabilitation and infrastructure activities.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Establish and maintain survey control for mining, drill & blast and rehabilitation
• Complete area and volume calculations for ore, overburden, stockpiles and dams
• Manage UAV flights, surface capture and monitoring activities across the operation
• Maintain accurate survey datasets and deliver weekly and monthly reporting

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Strong commitment to safety, accuracy and quality in survey work
• Experience in mine, civil or operational surveying within a heavy industry environment
• Ability to interpret technical data and communicate insights to stakeholders
• Capability to build effective relationships across technical and operational teams
• Experience with survey equipment and software used in mining environments

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Surveying degree or relevant surveying qualification
• UAV operator certification (preferred)
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
