Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.

As the LV Fitter, you will be responsible for safely maintaining the light vehicle fleet and mobile ancillary surface mining equipment, ensuring reliability and compliance with maintenance schedules and work standards.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Perform maintenance, servicing and inspections on diesel and petrol engines
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
• Assess, repair and maintain vehicle systems including cooling, braking, suspension and driveline
• Attend to breakdowns and complete work orders and documentation in SAP
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Skilled in maintenance and repair of light vehicles and ancillary mobile equipment
• Competent in fault-finding and diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems
• Proficient with engines and components from Cummins, Toyota, Isuzu, Hino and Mitsubishi
• Proactive communicator with a strong safety focus and attention to detail

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Trade qualification - Diesel Mechanic, Light Automotive or On-Highway Diesel
• Automotive Air Conditioning Handling License
• Current HR License (desirable)
• High Risk Licenses: Dogging, Gantry Crane and/or Forklift (desirable)
