Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns, or residential option to live on Groote Eylandt.
As the Manager Health, Safety, Risk & Training, you will be responsible for Leading a high-performing team to deliver HSRT strategies, systems and services that enable safe, compliant and continuously improving operations.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Supporting operational leaders to meet health, safety, risk & training obligations
- Overseeing emergency response, security & injury management services
- Ensuring site compliance with S32 and legislative HSRT standards
- Managing HSRT reporting, performance monitoring & improvement actions
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Significant experience in a similar HSRT role within mining or heavy industry
- Proven ability leading teams and driving inclusive, safety-focused workplace culture
- Knowledge of legislative frameworks and formal risk management processes
- Engaging and influencing executive leaders and regulatory bodies
- Delivering HSRT outcomes within complex operational environments
- Identifying risks and guiding continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (HSE, Engineering or similar) or equivalent experience
- Current open driver’s licence
