ABOUT GEMCO  

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent position on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Emergency Services Supervisor, you will lead emergency response, security & community safety across the operation and into the community. You will ensure your ESO team is prepared to deliver injury triage and actively support improved health and safety outcomes. This is a rare opportunity to provide emergency response to a wide variety of locations, including community, a mine site, airport and port operations. 

Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:

• Effective command and control during emergencies 

• Provide technical expertise to operations and functions to support safe execution of emergency management and response work 

• Ensure the site is well equipped to address emergency response and security matters from an equipment and resourcing perspective 

• Work with the GEMCO appointed private security firm to ensure effective security response 

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Working within mining or heavy industry & holding a valid manual HR licence
• Responding confidently in high-pressure or emergency situations
• Communicating with clarity and respect across diverse communities
• Solving problems in fast-paced, unpredictable environments

 Qualifications for this position are: 

• Advanced Diploma in Public Safety – Emergency Management or similar (preferred)

• Certificate IV in Health Care (HLT41120 and/or tertiary medical qualifications  

• Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response & Rescue (RII30709) or equivalent (Cert II Public Safety for example) 

• Completion of the Mine Site Safety Supervisor training course (G1, G8 & G9)

Desirable 

• Certificate IV Training & Assessment (TAE40122) 

• Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing (HLTPAT005)
