ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As Coordinator Tailings and Sands, you will be responsible for coordinating tailings, civil and water execution activities, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of works.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Allocate contractors, resources and equipment for planned works
• Coordinate civil construction and maintenance activities, including pipelines, dams and earthworks
• Support forecasting, scheduling and project delivery against plan
• Build strong working relationships to influence and achieve outcomes

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Supervising civil works in mining or heavy industry
• Strong background in pipelines, earthworks and/or dam projects
• Planning, scheduling and coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders
• Influencing and collaborating effectively across teams and contractors
• Familiarity with work management processes; SAP experience desirable

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Current C Class driver’s licence
• Mining Supervisor (G1, G8, G9) qualification, or ability to obtain prior to commencement
• Trade qualification (highly regarded)
