Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

 

As the Assistant Mine Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing survey control and accurate spatial data to support safe and efficient mining operations at GEMCO.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

  • Maintain survey control across mining, drill & blast and rehabilitation areas
  • Capture survey data using drones, scanners and GPS equipment
  • Process survey data and prepare volume and surface reports for planning teams
  • Support site monitoring, including tailings and rehabilitation surveys

 

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

  • Supporting survey, mining or technical fieldwork activities
  • A good work ethic, great communication skills and a desire to learn and grow
  • Using GPS, UAV or scanning technology for measurement and data capture
  • Maintaining survey records, tools or equipment accurately and on time
  • Knowledge of Vulcan or Point Studio highly regarded

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Manual)
  • Mine Surveyor’s Competency (preferred)
