Location

 

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company, the operation is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

 

The Opportunity

 

This role is a 4/3 Roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns (open to discuss flexible options).

 

In this role, you will provide specialist advice, execute analysis and benchmarking of the mining operations end-to-end performance. You will play a key role in implementing safety and productivity improvements to support the performance of the GEMCO mining assets.

 

Accountabilities

 

Primary responsibilities are but not limited to:

 

  • Develop and maintains the portfolio of operational improvement initiatives
  • Works with the production execution team to execute the portfolio of improvement initiatives.
  • Lead investigations and analysis into equipment downtime and production loss events using techniques to identify root cause and contributing factors
  • Develop strategies for equipment operation and analyse data to increase productivity
  • Develop and maintain inputs into the equipment performance assumptions for the mine plan
  • Updates operating standards, procedures, work instructions and control systems and ensures critical controls exist and are effective.
  • Collate data from various platforms to provide input into event investigations

 

Experience required

 

  • Relevant experience in a similar role within the mining, heavy industry or logistics.
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills focusing on mobile equipment, operation, utilisation and design parameters.
  • Proficiency in software such as MinVu, SAP, Downtime Data Analysis, Microsoft Office, SafeMine / CAS and Apollo RCA will be highly regarded.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Tertiary qualification in a Mining Engineering or Business.
  • Exposure to business improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean etc.)
