This role will be based at our Worsley Refinery, where our employees choose to live in the Bunbury, Collie or other nearby communities which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, this is an opportunity too good to miss.  

 

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in and out on a daily basis. Employee’s ideally live within an hours drive of Collie.    

 

The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Training & Development Superintendent, the purpose of this role is to partner with the operational leadership team to manage effective learning and development of employees. You will ensure that employees have the expected knowledge and skills required for the workplace, through developing and delivery training interventions in alignment with site and assessment standards.

 

Accountabilities   

 

Primary responsibilities are to:  

 

  • Leads a team of Specialist Trainer and Assessors, ensuring alignment of training and assessment activities to Training & Assessment strategy
  • Ensures operational training and assessment is aligned to UoC’s (unit of competency) where required
  • Ensures compliance with all legislative and license to operate requirements including legal, moral, social and contractual obligations as they apply to training and development of our people
  • Utilizes knowledge in vocational education processes and technical knowledge to develop and maintain on the job competency frameworks in alignment with national standards for the mine, refinery and port operation.
  • Analyses business priorities, objectives and data to identify strategic direction for training and people development activities.
  • Enhances risk management awareness, competency and capability through formal and information training coaching and mentoring.
  • Coaches superintendents and supervisors in the field to ensure competency assessment standards are met and appropriate development interventions are identified where required.
  • Develops, reviews and validates training material, assessment processes and competency requirements to ensure quality learning outcomes.
  • Applies a thorough understanding of the Australian Qualifications Framework to the learning, development and assessment of employees.
  • Supports leadership and employees in appropriate interventions and strategies where LLN barriers to learning are identified.
  • Assists in talent identification and development of existing employees through the Certificate IV PPT pathways.
  • Provides quality pastoral care and support to trainees as required.
  • Applies a broad range of training and assessment methods and styles to effectively address learning gaps.
  • Develops verification frameworks for on the job competency and conducts field leadership activities including competency verification audits.

  • Ability to communicate and influence all levels of the business
  • Ability to quickly build strong interpersonal relationships across all levels of the business
  • Ability to interpret applicability of business strategic objectives to competency frameworks
  • Ability to apply a risk-based approach to the management of on the job competence   

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment
  • Basic understanding of adult learning principles
  • High level of technical operational knowledge
  • Degree qualification in relevant discipline highly regarded
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in job-based competency delivery and assessment
