ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 40 hours per week on a 9-day fortnight roster. Our Worsley Refinery is a short drive from communities such as Collie (20 Minutes) & Bunbury (45 Minutes) which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night.
Candidates should ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie as there is no accommodation on site.
As the Specialist Safety Operations, you will be responsible for supporting operational teams to improve safety performance through coaching, risk management, frontline engagement and the delivery of practical safety improvements.
Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:
- Lead and support safety improvement initiatives that enhance work practices, equipment and operational processes.
- Partner with leaders and crews to identify hazards, strengthen critical controls and improve risk management outcomes.
- Support investigations and organisational learning by assisting with analysis, improvement actions and control verification activities.
- Collaborate across departments to embed consistent safety practices and drive sustainable improvements.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Building trusted relationships and positively influencing people at all levels of an organisation.
- Leading or contributing to safety, operational or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifying hazards, assessing risk and supporting effective control measures in operational environments.
- Coaching and supporting others to develop capability, confidence and safe work practices.
- Communicating clearly, facilitating discussions and engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
- Managing competing priorities, solving practical problems and delivering outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications for this position are:
Essential:
- Completion of LGIRS HSR training and/or Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor appointment (highly regarded).
Desirable:
- Hands‑on operational or maintenance experience in refining environment, ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Experience as a Safety & Health Representative (HSR/SHRep).
- Experience leading safety improvement initiatives or projects.
- Exposure to investigation processes (ICAM or equivalent).
