ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on 4/10hr - day workweek at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.

 As the Specialist Electrical – High Voltage (HV) your role is to develop, maintain and continuously improve equipment condition, knowledge and maintenance practices by updating maintenance strategies and documentation through defect elimination and work management process. Provide the key link between the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement teams and maintenance execution teams. Provide technical support to technicians and engineers. Ensure the effectiveness of work strategies and work plans, statutory and legislative requirements. Provide organisational governance in the application of engineering processes and promote understanding and compliance to engineering principles.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise future maintenance activities through the Work Management Process. Priorities set in consultation with Execution teams.
  • In conjunction with maintenance execution and production teams, maintain a detailed understanding of critical equipment shortfalls and work to develop optimised solutions to eliminate root causes.
  • Develop and review maintenance strategies to meet the requirements of Safety Critical Equipment.
  • Provide expertise to review, or support, maintainability and reliability specifications, as well as taking part in the handover activities of new systems commissioned by the Capital Projects team.
  • Successfully promote and facilitate the Management of Change process in conjunction with Production stakeholders and equipment owners.

 

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • A minimum experience of between 5 and 10 years in heavy industry.
  • A wealth of working electrical experience in maintenance & testing of high voltage assets & equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in Power System protection relay maintenance, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience with power & distribution transformers with voltage ranges from 415 volt to 132000 volt and 1 to 100MVA capacity will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in software such as SAP and Microsoft Office will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Collaborate with groups of internal and external stakeholders including power utility, engineering and production teams.

Qualifications required for this position are: 

  • An associate degree in electrical engineering – must have an electrician trade background or
  • Grade A electrical licence.
  • Must have an electrician trade background with heavy industry experience.
  • High risk work license with High Voltage switching qualifications and experience.
