As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in and out on a daily basis, therefore you must live within 1 hour’s drive of Collie to be considered for this position.  


The Opportunity


This is a permanent full-time position.

Reporting to the Superintendent Electrical Maintenance A&I, the purpose of this role is to manage site electrical risks whilst leading improvement opportunities regarding electrical compliance requirements. 

Additionally, you will:

  • Provide governance and management of ArcFlash, Hazardous Area and Electrocution risk in line with site standards. 
  • Lead improvement initiatives for management of electrical risks and associated infrastructure
  • Implement industry best practices to improve compliance against regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Add maintenance plans in line with legislative requirements for ‘Care of Maintenance’ areas
  • Solve complex problems related to electrical compliance adherence that could impact business license to operate
  • Actively liaise with engineering teams to update and develop electrical procedures
  • Actively coach and develop electrical workers on compliance and practical application of regulations within the workplace
  • Provide guidance and coaching on interpretation of legislation, Australian Standards and South32 standards
  • Lead investigations for potential or actual electrical compliance breaches and electric shock events
  • Communicate regularly with Registered Manager and electrical leadership team on emerging electrical risks with plan to resolve them.

About You   


The successful candidate will have experience in Electrical Compliance and Training, as well as the following:


  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience in operational refinery, gas production, transmission, petrochemical or other relevant heavy industry;
  • Proficient in risk management processes such as bow-tie analysis
  • Proficient in Electrical discipline with relevant qualifications.
  • Prior experience working within Electrical Supervision/Specialist role or as an advanced tradesperson or Electrical Engineer. 
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency.




  • Electrical Engineering Degree or WA A Grade Electrical License
  • Hazardous Area Classification and Design (Preferred)
