ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 40 hours per week on a 9 dayfortnight roster. Our Worsley Refinery is a short drive from communities such as Collie (20 Minutes) & Bunbury (45 Minutes) which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night.
Candidates should ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie as there is no accommodation on site.
As the Process Control Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading site-wide process control & automation, ensuring people, systems and technology work seamlessly to lift performance, safety and business value.
Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:
- Leading the growth, maintenance and lifecycle management of DCS, PLC and advanced control systems across our Mine, Refinery, Materials Handling and Port operations.
- Shape and deliver the Process Control & Automation roadmap, aligning with Technology and Operations strategies.
- Empowering a diverse team through supportive leadership, coaching and capability development
- Partner with Operations, Projects, and Platform teams, as well as external vendors, to identify value opportunities and enhance technology practices.
- Effectively manage workload by prioritising high‑value control and automation activities, ensuring resources, budgets and operational demands are balanced to deliver reliable, efficient and resilient technology services.
- Act as a visible safety and risk leader - supporting safe work procedures, investigations, assessments and adherence to legal and organisational requirements
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Nurturing collaborative, cross‑functional relationships and influencing at all levels
- Leading technical teams through change, growth, and evolving business needs
- You’re able to translate deep technical and complex automation concepts into clear, confident language that leaders can act on
- Applying strategic thinking, curiosity, problem‑solving and a strong customer‑centred mindset
Qualifications for this position are:
- A tertiary qualification in process control, electrical, chemical, instrumentation or process engineering — or a related production/processing field applicable to your region.
- Experience on the following control systems is highly regarded; Honeywell Process Control Systems – EPKS and TPS, Honeywell APC Forge, Experience with Safety Systems (SIS) or Burner Management Systems (BMS), Schneider PLC Family – Proworks32 and Control Expert, Siemens PCS7, SEL RTAC and ABB MicroScada.
- Additional development in project management, strategy, finance or business leadership is beneficial and welcomed.
