Mechanical Reliability Engineer

The Opportunity


Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance Analysis & Improvement, the key purpose of this role is to provide specialised technical reliability engineering expertise to deploy, develop and continuously improve maintenance work management strategies in the Raw Materials Department of the Worsley Refinery. The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional team on improving the reliability performance of key assets.  
 
Accountabilities
 

  • Build and develop equipment maintenance strategies for all equipment within the operational area of responsibility. This includes ensuring adequate information is captured in the task list and associated work instructions to perform the intended tasks to the required standard safely. 
  • Perform equipment strategy reviews and failure analysis to ensure that all task lists, and work instructions remain accurate and relevant. Update task lists/work instructions and all relevant master data in SAP. 
  • Develop mature systems to monitor equipment health and reliability performance. 
  • Monitor and respond to deviations in reliability performance of key assets.
  • Review / approve SAP Master Data change requests in line with maintenance strategies and content quality requirements. 
  • Develop a maintenance budget based on the preventative and corrective maintenance work strategies in SAP. 
  • Review and analyse work management metrics to ensure compliance to the SAP processes.
  • Encourage, mentor and coach peers and colleagues across operational areas to follow the SAP process by promoting operating discipline. 
  • Assess and action condition-based information for critical equipment. 


About you

 

  • Solid understanding of Reliability fundamentals, with demonstrated application of FMEA, reliability analysis, maintenance strategy development, sparing strategy development & detailed RCA’s. 
  • Solid understanding of mechanical maintenance fundamentals, with demonstrated application. 
  • Experience in the mining or processing industry, preferably with exposure to materials handling. 
  • Experience with SAP & GE APM is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels including internal and external stakeholders.

  • Undergraduate qualification in applicable engineering and/or science discipline
