ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight. Based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, it’s a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. 

As the Mechanical Design/Project Engineer, you are responsible for fulfilling the Design Services Team’s goals through collaboration with an internal multi-discipline team of Engineers and external Engineering Service Providers.

Key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Engineer and deliver a portfolio of capital and operations projects from pre-feasibility through to commissioning.
• Provide technical support on piping, materials handling, lifting, and the full spectrum of mechanical plant issues experienced in a mineral refining operation.
• Engage, manage, and collaborate with Engineering Service Providers (ESP) to ensure timely delivery of work packages.
• Work with refinery operations and maintenance engineering teams to drive improvements and perform corrective actions.
• Ensure Worsley’s Technical Standards and Specifications are consistent with national standards, codes, and industry best practices.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Prior experience in a Mechanical Engineering design and technical support role within heavy industry or engineering consultancy environment.
• Demonstrated abilities in engineering design, executing projects, and providing commissioning support.
• Fluent in Mechanical Engineering design methodologies, tools, and software.
• Practical knowledge of piping systems, materials handling, and mechanical plant design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Understanding of Engineering Quality Control, Management of Engineering Change, and the application of Safety in Design.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Required) to a standard recognised by Engineers Australia.
