ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight roster. This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.
As the Manager HSERT, you will be responsible for leading the HSERT function across Worsley Operations to ensure effective governance, compliance and continuous improvement in health & wellbeing, safety, security, contractor management, risk and training.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading, coaching and developing the HSERT leadership team and wider function to deliver consistent, high‑quality support across operations and projects
- Owning site HSERT management systems, standards, procedures and tools, ensuring alignment with internal requirements and the applicable legal framework
- Overseeing end‑to‑end delivery of key processes including injury management, health surveillance, fitness for work, return to work and health & hygiene performance
- Setting direction for the Training Management System and training strategy, including the Training Business Plan, progress updates and delivery of agreed objectives
- Acting as risk owner for key material risks (incl. dropped/falling objects and common fatality risks), driving assurance actions and improvement planning
- Providing accurate, timely HSERT reporting and insights to operational leaders and external parties, while overseeing the contract management team and managing the local HSERT operating budget
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Senior HSERT leadership in a complex operational environment or major project, translating strategy into practical, sustained delivery
- Building and leading multi‑specialised teams and service providers, setting priorities, developing capability and creating an inclusive culture of care and accountability
- Applying risk management and HSERT principles in real‑world settings, using data and learning to improve systems, behaviours and outcomes
- Influencing and partnering with a wide stakeholder group (executive leaders, regulators, contractors and community), with confident facilitation and negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge and application of legislation and regulations pertaining to WHS, Mining Regulations, emergency response and management, training and the provision of medical services.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree (HSE / Engineering / Safety / Similar) or equivalent experience
- Post graduate qualification in WHS (desirable) or appropriate, e.g. Emergency services, Medical service administration
