ABOUT THE ROLE

 

This is a Permanent position working a 9 day fortnight roster. This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.

 

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie. 

 

As the Engineer Senior Control & Automation, you will be responsible for the health and evolution of the site’s automation capability, keeping core OT systems dependable and aligned to operational needs.

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Driving external provider outcomes against agreed contracts, service levels and site requirements
  • Setting priorities for support, resilience and optimisation work with site technology leadership
  • Leading lifecycle planning, technology updates and continuous improvement with consultants, suppliers & vendors
  • Supporting and growing early-career engineers through coaching, structured development and practical guidance
  • Monitor, manage and improve OT infrastructures’ health, stability, capacity

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:  

 

  • Managing complex operational technology environments (e.g., DCS/PLC) and balancing risk, uptime and change, experience with Honeywell ExperionPKS and LCN based system is preferred.
  • Partner/supplier management, including clear expectations, performance conversations and escalation when needed
  • Translating operational needs into practical plans, priorities and fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Collaborative stakeholder engagement across operations, engineering, projects and digital/technology teams
  • Calm, structured incident response and disciplined change management to minimise disruption
  • Coaching and knowledge-sharing, with a supportive style that helps others build confidence and capability

 

Qualifications for this position are:  

 

  • Tertiary degree and relevant certificate / diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Chemical / Instrumentation / Process Engineering or Production and Processing as required in local jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated, advanced written and oral language proficiency
