The Opportunity 

We are currently looking for an Electrical Instrumentation Technician to join our Electrical Maintenance team, based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, on a Day Shift roster working 4 x 10-hour days per week. 
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, your role will be to safely maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout various sections of the refinery.


Accountabilities include:  


  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to safe work practices and procedures 
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all events and hazards and participate in workplace investigations as required.
  • Ensure compliance to business processes for work execution through MMS programs such as SAP & Concerto.
  • Utilise Work Instruction documents to complete scheduled work in a timely manner, and to a high-quality standard.
  • Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process.
  • Ensure returns of unused or reparable materials are processed accurately.
  • Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability.
  • Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment.
  • Review and request updates to Work Management and other SAP Master Data as required.


Role Activities:



  • Maintenance and calibration of Temperature, Pressure & Flow measurement instrumentation.
  • Maintenance of 3.3kV and 415V switchgear, motors, cabling and motor control centers.
  • Isolation of LV & HV circuits for safe access to electrical apparatus. 
  • Disconnection and reconnection of electrical equipment for removal and overhaul by mechanical trades.
  • Maintenance and calibration of motor operated valves. 
  • Maintenance and calibration of electro-pneumatic valves.
  • Fault finding and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment.


About You 


Successful candidate will have had experience in a similar role and be able to work as part of a team or independently depending on requirements and will be able to follow all safety practices and procedures in place. 


 In addition, you will have: 


  • Electrical Trade certified & A grade electrical license
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation, with practical experience maintaining instrumentation.
  • Current Australian C class manual drivers’ licence
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and P&ID’s.
  • Well-developed understanding of the operation and maintenance of large-scale refinery equipment
  • Experience working with control valves and positioners, variable speed drives, PLC and DCS systems.
  • Experience maintaining and fault-finding motor control circuits.
  • Experience working with power generation equipment such as Boilers & Turbines. (Desirable)
  • Experience switching and maintaining High Voltage equipment. (Desirable)

  • High Voltage Switching Ticket
  • Cert IV in Hazardous Areas
  • High Risk Work License - Elevated Work Platform, Fork Lift
