ABOUT THE ROLE 

                                                                                                                 

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) on a nine-day fortnight roster. Our Worsley Refinery is a short drive from communities such as Collie (20 Minutes) & Bunbury (45 Minutes) which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night. 

 

Candidates should ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie as there is no accommodation on site.

 

As the Category Specialist you will lead the end‑to‑end development and execution of category strategies that strengthen supply resilience, optimise cost and performance, and support long‑term business value. Partnering closely with Operations, Projects, Planning, Technology, Legal and our wider Supply teams, you will influence decision‑making through insightful market intelligence, commercial analysis and strategic negotiation.

Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:

 

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop medium‑ and long‑term category strategies that deliver optimal commercial outcomes, sustainability value and supply continuity.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including market analysis, commercial modelling, tendering and high‑value negotiations.
  • Shape commercial frameworks and supplier strategies across multi‑site or complex categories.
  • Provide governance‑aligned commercial recommendations backed by rigorous analysis and stakeholder engagement

 

Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring alignment to business needs and strategic priorities.
  • Drive supplier performance, innovation and continuous improvement through structured relationship management. 
  • Support delivery of local and Indigenous procurement outcomes

 

Risk, Performance & Value Delivery

  • Monitor supply chain risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to unlock commercial value, reduce cost of ownership and enhance supplier resilience.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing, inclusive team culture committed to value creation and excellence.

  • Strong commercial acumen, judgement and communication skills.
  • The ability to navigate complex commercial issues with clarity and confidence.
  • A solutions‑focused mindset and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree or post-secondary studies in commerce, supply chain, law or a related discipline.
  • MCIPS is advantageous.
