ABOUT THE ROLE

Worsley Alumina have a position for an Apprentice 2nd Year Fabrication to join our team based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. This role is a Three-Year Fixed Term Contract initially on a 4 x 10 hour day roster. Applicants must have successfully completed their first-year training requirements in Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/welding). 

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie. 

Purpose

Your journey will be supported by a great crew and professional training team. You will continue to grow and develop your skills and experience that will lead you into a skilled tradesperson.

Accountabilities

• Demonstrate commitment and conformance to safe work practices and procedures.
• Represent South 32 and yourself in a professional manner both internally and externally, including involvement with TAFE and secondments.
• Follow all lawful instructions.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:  

• Demonstrated desire and/or experience in the chosen trade (s)
• Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency.
• Current ‘C’ class driver’s license or working towards one
• Satisfactory completion of first year Engineering - Fabrication TAFE units

Qualifications for this position are:  

• Ensure any documentation required to gain your trade qualification is completed accurately, on time and in the appropriate manner or required system.
• Progress in your Apprenticeship – This includes progressing with on the job learning and your TAFE off the job learning.
• Attend all scheduled mandatory TAFE training.
